Mark Rodgers- Music Minister

Education/secular work experience.
I was raised in Florence, AL where I attended  Coffee High School and graduated with a degree in Accounting from The  University of North Alabama.  I served as  a Supply Officer in the U. S. Navy for 20 years, during which time I earned a  Masters in Management from Troy State University and a Masters of Business  Administration (MBA) from The Ohio State University.  After retirement from the Navy, I moved to   Baton Rouge, LA where I opened and managed the LifeWay Christian Store for 11  years and served as Administrator at Riverdale Christian Academy for two years.
I have been married for 35 years to Linda Noble Rodgers, who was raised  in Sheffield AL.  Our eldest daughter  Jessica resides in Baton Rouge and is mother to our grandson Bradley.  We have two other daughters, Anna and Abby,  who reside with us.
I was raised in the Assemblies of God church, where I was introduced to  the gospel and got saved at a young age.   As a young adult, I unfortunately wandered away from God, but turned  back to him in a serious way after my first daughter was born.  Through trial/error, careful research, Bible  study and prayer, my family and I ended up in a Bible-believing, evangelistic,  community-serving (all important issues to us) Southern Baptist church.  I have dedicated myself to seriously seeking  out and doing God’s will for my life since that time.
I have been  blessed to serve as bi-vocational Music Minister at various churches for over  20 years.  I was ordained to the Gospel  ministry at Live Oak Baptist Church in Watson, LA in 2007.  My philosophy of music ministry has always been   “when in doubt, sing louder,” which is simply an expression of my belief that  of all the means of worship that God has given us, music is the most powerful  and fun, and should be practiced enthusiastically and whole-heartedly.
I love to read about and discuss sports, history and politics.  I love nothing better than spending quiet  evenings at home with family.  I also  love being part of and serving with a local church family that truly loves God,  loves each other, and loves and serves a hurting world.
